Representatives from The Paper Cup Company went to the House of Commons on the 14th November 2011, to collect their Green Apple Environment Award. They picked up a silver award in the packaging section. The Green Apple Award scheme is a national campaign to find Britain’s greenest companies, councils and communities. The Paper Cup Company competed against 500 other nominations.

Victoria Lotha, Marketing Manager, accompanied Sarah Woodward, UK Print Manager, to collect the award. Sarah said "I am honoured to collect this award on behalf of The Paper Cup Company, but I would like to thank all the customers that have contributed to the scheme. I would also like to thank Marvin Baker at Green Earth Appeal for arranging the trees to be planted in Haiti. It is a real honour to work with them".
The Paper Cup Company is the first company in the world to enable customers to offset the carbon footprint of paper cups by working with Green Earth Appeal. For just 99p per 1000 cups, Green Earth Appeal will plant a tree which will replace the paper used in the manufacturing of the paper cups and will offset the carbon footprint of manufacturing and transporting the cups. Currently, trees are being planted in Haiti to provide a sustainable source of food for themselves and their lifestock, educate farmers and communities about agroforestry and help stop desertification.
The Paper Cup Company's customers have planted over 750 trees since entering the scheme earlier this year.
